Ms. J. Anna Scott

PhD Student

Anna Scott is a second-year Ph.D. student in the Stelzleni Lab. She was raised in Hazlehurst, Georgia, on her family’s cattle operation, which focuses on Angus and Simmental cattle. Anna began at Connors State College, where she judged livestock, before transferring to Texas Tech University. There, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Education while competing on both the livestock and meat judging teams.

She continued her education at the University of Georgia, earning a master’s degree with research focused on sous vide cookery methods in beef. During her time at UGA, she also coached the university’s meats judging team. Now pursuing her doctorate, Anna’s research focuses on the effects of calf birth weights on various meat quality parameters.
